Living life with dogs is a beautiful, pure thing but it is so hard when dogs have to leave us through ill health or old age. It is one of lifes' cruelties that they don't live as long as us and their loss is truly painful. We have to make the most of every day and give them the happiest, healthiest life we can while they are with us and let them teach us humans how to live happier and better and just, how to be more dog! This month has been hard with Huxley's passing and we have been keeping ourselves manically busy trying to process the loss. Life being full of light and shade the light this month came from a trip to Scotland where Mars won his limit class under breed specialist Barbara Stanier (Arctictrek) and won his stud book number. So many truly wonderful dogs in the line up and it was a privilege to be considered. Hux would be proud. Working season draws near and we are really looking forward to getting out on the trails regularly with the dogs again. We have new different training trails available to us this season and we are thrilled to have much more flexibility to the times we are permitted to train and having trails which are not so hilly, usually we are either going up a hill or down a hill so really having to put the brakes on to control the speed of the team and it will be a breath of fresh air for us all to have access to flatter trails with just the odd inevitable Westcountry hill. The trails are closer to home too so rather than the usual 3 hour round trip to train, we will have just over an hour round trip which will give us back more time. Over the summer the rigs have been serviced, big van maintenance and new equipment purchased including a smaller new dog van that can accommodate 2/3 dogs, ideal for pottering around and going to dog shows. We are excited to do some proper harness work with Zinny too, temps down here we can catch runs during the summer but not with any routine or regularity so we have taken our time with her, she has had lots of free running and has stood with the teams after their runs so she can learn to be semi sensible on hook up. We have no doubt of her attitude and we are excited to be part of her running journey. Comments are closed.
