Running a dog team is like no other experience. The sense of peace and serenity of being surrounded by nature whilst on the trails with our Siberians who are fulfilling their breed destiny to run, is a privilege we both share.
Siberian Huskies are a working breed and we feel it is important to work the Siberian husky as the breed is intended and it is what they love to do whether it is for competition or leisure. At Demoneira we run our dogs in the UK which is mainly dryland sprint mushing and there is a thriving working scene in the UK with lots of races and some treks being held most weekends during the working season.
It's great fun to test our dogs on different trails and environments and since 2007 in between military deployments, Matt has competed at races in the UK. Matt's 'Rookie' year saw a Bronze Sprint Championship Placing in the Two dog with ABSA, The next year a silver Sprint Championship Placing in the two dog class with ABSA. The following years saw AMWA long distance trekking titles achieved with six dog teams along Salisbury Plains and top three placings in the Dryland Sprint races attended. In 2014/2015 we both fielded teams and achieved two Silver Dryland Sprint Championship placings with BSA in the three dog and two dog class respectively. 2016/2017 season we competed with the British Siberian Husky Racing Association and Matt placed top ten in the two dog in the BSHRA Championship. 2017/2018 saw limited racing due to deployments , we ran with BSHRA mixing team combinations to include the new youngster and we were happy with how the dogs ran in great competition.
