This month training the dogs and working on our second smaller van is the agenda. Dogs have worked hard in a seven dog team at night along the hilly terrain at Great Wood on the passenger rig. This early in the season and with the addition of the yearlings the passenger rig with its dual braking system is ideal for keeping speed sensible and the dogs steady to be able to slowly and safely increase their fitness. Very impressed with the youngsters who were little troopers and ignored the passing wildlife.
We like to keep things fun and interesting so we decided to train dogs on our local training ground to reinforce the yearlings turn /lead training, this is on flat grassy terrain and we set off in teams of two each yearling with an experienced dog. We are working on different combinations of these team ups and we are particularly delighted with Cassidy whom we ran with Pickle and she really stepped up to the plate and at four years is has decided to become a very strong lead dog and an excellent mentor to the youngsters.
When we weren't training and getting loves from the dogs we worked on our second smaller dog van. After the cages were painted and the interior painted, the final finish was to add the non slip flooring. There is always something to do at Demoneira!
